Plattsburgh, NY
Nestled between the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain, Plattsburgh is a charming city with a vibrant downtown full of restaurants, shops, and a growing arts scene. You can enjoy fishing, beaches, boat launches, and recreational trails. Plattsburgh also has an international airport, making travel easy. The city's atmosphere is lively, and the residents are friendly and active in their community.
Plattsburgh became a major US hub for the fur trade with Montreal, which is just over an hour to the north. While the fur trade is no longer active, beautiful historic buildings from that era still stand. Brinkerhoff Street is especially popular for its unique architecture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Riverwalk Park and the Heritage Trail are also popular, offering scenic views along the Saranac River and passing by museums, art galleries, and local boutiques.
Surrounding Plattsburgh are rural communities, each with its own personality. While Plattsburgh is the business hub of the region, these communities are known for their farms and beautiful landscapes with stunning views of mountains, valleys, and water bodies.
Plattsburgh is conveniently located close to many major cities. It is just five hours from New York City, an hour from Montreal, Burlington, Vermont to the east, Lake Placid to the west, and a little over two hours to Albany, the state capital. This makes it perfect for weekend getaways.

Lake Placid, NY
Lake Placid is the heart of the Adirondacks. This historic town has hosted the Winter Olympics twice, most recently in 1980, famous for the "Miracle on Ice" hockey game. Today, it remains a hub for outdoor activities and culture in upstate New York. Additionally, Lake Placid hosts many sports events year-round, including the Empire State Winter Games, Ironman Lake Placid Triathlon, and ski jumping competitions.
The residents of Lake Placid include small business owners, athletes, and families. This diverse group of about 3,000 people shares a love for the beautiful surroundings and the area's seasonal activities. Furthermore, the town boasts award-winning restaurants, breweries, and great shopping in downtown Lake Placid.
Lake Placid High School is in the town center, next to the Olympic Center and the historic speed skating oval. With about 200 students, this public school offers small class sizes and excellent opportunities for student-athletes.
In winter, you can enjoy skiing at Whiteface Mountain, just a few miles from Lake Placid. As the tallest ski mountain in the east at nearly 5,000 feet, it offers challenging trails and a highly acclaimed learn-to-ski program for beginners. However, many believe the Lake Placid region is best in the summer, attracting hikers, rock climbers, fishermen, triathletes, mountain bikers, and live music lovers. The Olympic training facilities remain open, allowing visitors to ride the 1980 bobsled course and visit the ski jumping sites from 1980 and 1932.
From swimming in local lakes and ponds to climbing the Adirondack High Peaks, Lake Placid is a must-visit summer destination. After a day of adventure, you can unwind at one of the local breweries and restaurants.
Malone, NY
In the heart of Malone there is a lush golf course with 36 holes that are a wonderful way to spend your day. Likewise, Titus Mountain, recently voted the #1 Family-Friendly Ski Area in North America, is just minutes from the village. The mountain also has family fun days. In the village of Malone there are several small shops to browse and shop and small galleries for local artists to display their pieces. Truly an outdoor enthusiast's paradise, you can hike, bird watch, snowmobile, fish, ski, and boat all around this historic community.
Potsdam, NY
Potsdam is a quaint town located in St. Lawrence County at the foothills of the Adirondacks. Founded by the Clarkson and Van Horn Families, Potsdam is named after the City in Germany and granted the motto “All Roads Lead to Potsdam”. The town was established in 1806 as a trades village and well known for its Sandstone Quarries. Since then, the quaint village has grown into a diverse college town, with two well-known colleges, Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam, making Potsdam a cultural and educational center. Also, it is rich with history and offering plenty of attractions along the St. Lawrence River. Potsdam is abundant in beautiful scenery and offering rural beauty to its valleys, streams and small hamlets.
Potsdam offers hotels, a progressive medical center, local airport, and wide variety of shopping facilities and restaurants.
Tupper Lake, NY
